Youth Only

Familylinks Youth Emergency Shelters (YES)

Provides shelters throughout Pittsburgh and the suburbs and YES houses for teens from 13 to 18 years of age who are at risk of abuse, neglect, or homelessness.

Services include:

  • A safe, temporary place to stay
  • Reunification services and counseling
  • Drug, alcohol, and mental health counseling
  • Routine medical care
  • Schooling through community and educational centers

Three Rivers Youth

Offers a number of different programs for runaway and homeless youth.

Services include:

Women Only

Bethlehem Haven

Provides shelter to homeless women for up to 60 days.  Women should not present to the shelter before 3:30 PM.  Intakes are done daily at 4 PM.

Bethlehem Haven also provides extensive services to help women beyond the emergency shelter.

Services include:

  • Transitional housing program for up to 2 years
  • SOAR Safe Haven permanent housing for women with multiple incidents of homelessness related to mental illness
  • Aftercare program including adult learning, medical and mental health advocacy, and career/life planning
  • Miryam's Day Program providing services 365 days a year from 10 AM to 6 PM
  • Health Care for the Homeless program providing a variety of medical and mental health services
  • Uptown Legal Clinic that provides free legal counseling for civil cases (e.g., family law, landlord-tenant issues)

Bridge to Independence, Inc. Debra House

Provides homeless women with a furnished living space and access to common areas including kitchen, bath, laundry, and lounge.

Provides 30-60 day emergency for single women who are homeless. 

Services include:

  • Transitional and bridge housing
  • Prevention programs
  • Child development programs

Provides 30 day emergency shelter for women who are the victims of domestic violence.

Provides emergency shelter for men over 18 years of age.

Provides emergency shelter for single, adult men.

New Beginnings

Provides 30 day emergency shelter for women and children (male children only to 12 years of age).

This shelter is unique by having staff on site 24 hours a day to complete intake interviews, ensuring that women and their children will always have a safe place to go.

The Salvation Army Family Caring Center

Provides living accommodations for entire families who become homeless. 

It is unique in that it is the only shelter in the Pittsburgh area that can provide housing for entire families (e.g., mothers, fathers, children of all ages) in one location.
